The request that could no longer be delayed: here comes the spitting flag of primitive punk destruction. One Saturday afternoon around the time of the crowning of Charlemagne, I helped my mother with the groceries and picked Troops Of Tomorrow at the local supermarket because there were zombies on the front cover and because it was released (in my corner of the universe) on the same label as Saxon, which I was already an infinite fan of (and still am). And then I was totally blown away by all the rage and chainsaws on that record. As raw and obnoxious as No Sleep Til Hammersmith! Everything louder than everything else! I hadn't heard Discharge yet, but even after that ritual had been accomplished, the Exploited have remained a constant and guilty pleasure. Troops and Let's Start A War are completely unavoidable street punk classics, but every other entry in their discography is a must too. The grafting of metal riffs make The Massacre and especially Beat The Bastard incredibly killer crossover albums, bang that head that doesn't bang! The Exploited forever motörizerrezer!!! !ZER The Exploited ZER! Remove brackets and unzip: [zer of tomorrow] |
